The family of late actor Steve Echendu has shared details about his burial.
News of his death came shortly after veteran actor Francis Duru passed away, shaking the entertainment world.
In a statement on actress Clarion Chukwura’s Instagram page on Tuesday, signed by his son, Kamsiyochukwu Echendu, the family announced a three-day funeral plan for the 52-year-old actor.
The family said there will be a wake-keep on 27 November, before his burial on 28 November in his hometown of Umuokwara Umuohiri, Isiala Mbano, Imo State.
A thanksgiving and outing service will take place on 29 November, marking the end of the funeral events.
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure; you will always be loved and deeply missed,” the family said.
The actor leaves behind his wife, children, and brothers, according to the family.
Chukwura remembered him fondly, highlighting his significant role in Nollywood during its early days when the industry was still growing.
She called his death a painful loss and said it was hard to accept.
“This is hard. Indeed, a painful exit. A major pillar in the early days of Nollywood, the most professional, hardworking, and respectful production manager I ever worked with in the foundational years of Nollywood. Rest in Peace, Steve,” she said.
Echendu had many roles in the industry as an actor, producer, and director. His film credits include “Knockout Blessing,” “Fury,” and “Infant at Heart,” among others.
As of now, the family has not shared the cause of his death.
