Freqie Space highlights Abuja musicians

Freqie Space, a music and lifestyle platform based in Abuja, has launched a new initiative to help upcoming artistes in the Federal Capital Territory.

The initiative, called ‘The Great Wall Playlist’, aims to showcase talented musicians from Abuja and connect them with a larger audience in Nigeria’s music scene.

For a long time, many artistes in Abuja have found it hard to be noticed outside the city. Most commercial opportunities and attention from the industry have been focused in Lagos, Nigeria’s main entertainment center.

But Freqie Space believes that Abuja has many talented musicians whose creativity needs to be recognized and shared more widely.

Unlike regular playlists that often depend on chart positions and streaming numbers, The Great Wall Playlist emphasizes originality, creativity, and sounds that reflect the changing identity of music in Abuja.

The organisers created this initiative to help independent artistes who struggle to be discovered.

“Every featured record represents the creativity, resilience, and originality of artistes who are shaping Abuja’s music culture,” the organisers said.

Experts in the industry point out that digital playlists are now key for discovering music. Being featured on respected platforms can help emerging artistes reach new listeners, DJs, event planners, bloggers, and industry leaders.

Besides promoting music, Freqie Space is also working on building a wider creative community through live events, lifestyle experiences, DJ culture, and online engagement to support young creatives in Abuja.

The platform also noted that the rise of Afrobeats around the world has opened doors for artistes from outside the usual entertainment centers, letting sounds from different Nigerian cities attract global attention.

While Lagos is still the heart of Nigeria’s music industry, Abuja continues to grow a community of artistes exploring various sounds and genres.
