Tyson Fury has said that Anthony Joshua is looking for one last big payday when they fight on December 11. Fury also mentioned that he plans to keep boxing after this match.

These two long-time British rivals, both former heavyweight champions, have never faced each other in the ring. Their fight will take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Fury, who is 38 years old, said he never expected this fight to happen. While speaking to WSVN Miami from his training camp, he revealed that Joshua turned down the fight four or five times.

“I didn’t think he had the minerals to get in there with the GK (Gypsy King) and he didn’t,” Fury said.

He added, “At the end of his career, now he wants a final payday. I will give it to him, no problem.”

Fury believes fans will see the end of an era in boxing. “They’ll see legendary fighters throwing down in their late 30s like all the greats did before,” he said. “Just two modern-day gladiators throwing down. For pride, glory and a **** ton of money.”

He mentioned that he has two fights left on his contract and is likely to sign another 10-fight deal afterward. “If the money’s right, sign another 10 fights, but they’ve got to be quick because I’m getting older,” he said. “I’m coming up to fight number 40.”

Fury’s main focus is a trilogy fight with Oleksandr Usyk. He still feels upset over the decision that didn't go his way in their last match. “If you want to get paid you’ve got to come and see me in the heavyweight division,” Fury said about the Ukrainian boxer.

The former champion also called himself the best heavyweight to ever wear boxing gloves.

There has been huge demand for this fight. Over 500,000 fans lined up for tickets, but only 80,000 were available for sale. The ring walk is scheduled for 1am to cater to American viewers.

Fury is expected to be the favorite going into the match. Daniel Dubois’ trainer, Don Charles, is also supporting Fury, saying Joshua has lost his jab since his defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. in 2019.

Joshua, who is 37, said he will embrace the pressure that comes with the fight. “When you have put the work in, pressure becomes something that drives you forward,” he mentioned at the launch of Under Armour’s HeatGear and ColdGear baselayers.
