Nigeria’s Future Eagles beat Rwanda 4-3 on penalties after the game ended 1-1. This win takes them to the semi-finals for 73rd, 76th place at the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The victory gives the Nigerian team a chance to improve their final standing. Their earlier dream of winning the Tier C title ended with a 6-3 loss to Benin Republic in the Round of 16.

Wisdom Boniface put Nigeria ahead with a free-kick in the 26th minute. But Rwanda equalised in the 39th minute, which led to a penalty shootout.

The Future Eagles stayed calm under pressure. They converted four penalties while Rwanda scored three. This win allowed Nigeria to move forward in the tournament.

Next, Nigeria will play Chile in the classification semi-final. Chile also won their spot after a penalty shootout, following a 3-3 draw with Japan.

Earlier in the tournament, Nigeria had a big win against New Caledonia, finishing 7-0. Captain Timothy Ijach scored a hat-trick in that match before their loss to Benin Republic.

These classification matches help teams that are out of contention for the tier title to fight for better final positions. The Future Eagles are looking for another win against Chile as they push on in the tournament.
