Days after his wedding became a hot topic on social media, Emmanuel “Geh Geh” Obruste, who calls himself a financial expert, shared his thoughts on relationships. He said he has no problem with love but is against women who jump into relationships just to escape poverty.
Geh Geh spoke about this on the “Before Tomorrow Comes (BTC) podcast” on Wednesday. He believes that true relationships should be based on real love, not financial need.
PREMIUM TIMES had earlier reported that Geh Geh's wedding video confused many of his followers and Nigerians. He later clarified that the video was a promotion for his upcoming movie, “Our In-Law.”
On the podcast, he mentioned that many men hold back their financial growth by trying too hard to impress women instead of focusing on making money. He said, “To know if a woman loves you is to see if she’s investing in your life and supporting your growth. I’m not against relationships, but I’m against women who want to use them as a poverty escape route.”
Geh Geh further advised men to prioritize their financial health. He said they should not make expensive sacrifices for their partners. He suggested that men look for partners who share similar lifestyles, calling this advice common sense.
He stated, “The principles at my university are: don’t train a woman in school, don’t stress yourself for a woman, don’t open a business for a woman. If you’re looking for a businesswoman, go for one who already has a business; if you want a graduate, go for someone who’s already a graduate.”
Geh Geh added that once a woman marries a man, she often stops paying rent. He warned that someone who isn’t contributing financially is still taking. He said, “A lady who doesn’t have anything should go for a guy who has nothing because a guy who doesn’t have anything, a lady won’t date him.”
To support his views, Geh Geh drew examples from the animal kingdom. He said in many species, it is often the females who are responsible for feeding the family.
