Super Falcons forward Gift Monday has said an emotional goodbye to Washington Spirit. She is now with Boston Legacy in the National Women’s Soccer League.

The 24-year-old made the switch to Boston Legacy on October 8. The trade was worth $500,000 in transfer funds, and Washington Spirit will receive a 20 percent share if she is sold again.

Monday shared her farewell message on Instagram on Thursday. She expressed her gratitude to the club for being a part of her career.

"Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when the memories mean so much. I’m leaving with a grateful heart, beautiful memories, and a little sadness that words cannot explain," she wrote.

"Thank you for being part of my journey. Though we may be going our separate ways, you will always have a special place in my heart. All the best, fam, take care and never forget me."

Monday joined Washington Spirit from Spanish club UD Tenerife in March 2025. She quickly became a key player for the team. Her debut came on April 12, 2025. She came off the bench in a 2-0 win against Racing Louisville FC.

Just a week later, she scored her first goal and made her first start in a 1-0 victory over league leaders Orlando Pride. On September 28, 2025, she scored a hat-trick in just 36 minutes during a 4-0 win against Houston Dash. This set a new league record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff.

In total, Monday scored 12 goals and had three assists in 48 matches across all competitions before leaving.
