Boston Legacy has welcomed Super Falcons forward Gift Monday after her big $500,000 transfer from Washington Spirit.

The club shared the news on their social media pages. Monday signed a five-year deal, which keeps her at the National Women’s Soccer League team until December 2030. She will wear the number 22 jersey.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international’s transfer comes after Boston Legacy announced on October 8 that they had reached a deal with Washington Spirit. The transfer fee is $500,000, and Washington Spirit also included a 20 percent sell-on clause in the agreement.

Monday moved to Washington Spirit from Spanish club UD Tenerife in March 2025. She quickly became an important attacking player. She made her debut on April 12, 2025, coming off the bench in a 2-0 win against Racing Louisville. A week later, she started her first match and scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over league leaders Orlando Pride.

On September 28, she scored a hat-trick within the first 36 minutes of a 4-0 win over Houston Dash. This set a new league record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff. She left Washington Spirit with 12 goals and three assists in 48 matches across all competitions.

Before going abroad, the forward played in the Nigerian Women’s Football League for COD United Amazons, FC Robo, and Bayelsa Queens. She won the 2021/22 league title with Bayelsa Queens and finished that season as the top scorer. Her impressive performance led to her transfer to Tenerife in September 2022.
