Super Falcons star Osinachi Ohale has signed with Italian club Como 1907 Women after leaving Mexican team Pachuca. Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Gift Monday has moved from Washington Spirit to the new NWSL team Boston Legacy FC.

Ohale, born in 1991, returns to Italy after playing for AS Roma in 2020. She brings over 15 years of international experience to Como following her retirement from the Super Falcons.

Her career started in Nigeria in 2008 and has taken her to the United States, Sweden, Spain, and Mexico. This journey has made her one of Nigeria’s most experienced defenders.

Como's technical director Nils Nielsen welcomed Ohale. He pointed out her good positioning, one-on-one defending, and aerial strength as important skills she will add to the team.

“Osinachi is a very experienced and good defender. Representing Nigeria for more than 15 years, many as captain, her international experience is extremely valuable for us,” Nielsen said.

Ohale is excited to be back in Italy and start a new chapter with the BiancoBlu. She promised to give her best for the team.

“I’m happy to return to Italy and start this new experience here in Como. I have a very positive feeling about it. I’m ready to do whatever the coach asks of me to help the team,” she said.

This move comes after a successful international career with Nigeria. Ohale played in four FIFA Women’s World Cups and seven Africa Women’s Cup of Nations tournaments. She won five continental titles with the Super Falcons.

On the other hand, forward Gift Monday is looking forward to a new challenge after being traded from Washington Spirit to NWSL expansion team Boston Legacy FC.

Monday joined Washington Spirit in March 2025 from Spanish club UD Tenerife. She had a strong impact during her two seasons in the United States.

The Nigerian international scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 48 matches across all competitions for the Spirit. She became an important attacking player for the team.

One of her best games was in September 2025, when she scored a hat-trick against Houston Dash in just 35 minutes and 52 seconds. This set the record for the fastest hat-trick from kickoff in NWSL history.

She also played a key role in Washington Spirit’s 2025 playoff run, scoring twice as the team moved on to the NWSL Championship final.

Now, Monday starts her new journey with Boston Legacy FC, who are gearing up for their first season in the NWSL. Her experience offers the new team a strong attacking option, while Washington Spirit will continue without a forward who scored important goals during her time at the club.
