About 80 golfers will come together in Asaba, Delta State, on November 7 for a retirement championship in honour of Rita Izoje, also known as Lady Pro.
This event will take place at the Ibori Golf and Country Club. It will celebrate Izoje's contributions to Nigerian golf over the past three decades, along with her 35 years of service in the civil service.
Reports say the championship will gather golfers, friends, associates and well-wishers to acknowledge her achievements both on and off the golf course.
Izoje represented Nigeria at the 2018 All Africa Challenge Trophy in Ghana, playing as part of the national team. She has also gained recognition through her work in golf administration and her role with the Delta State Sports Commission.
Her connection with Ibori Golf and Country Club in Asaba has been a key part of her golfing journey.
The organisers see the championship as a chance to celebrate her achievements and the strong relationships she has made in the sport.
The competition is set to attract players from all over the country, but only 80 golfers can take part.
The event will mix sporting activities with tributes to Izoje’s career. This gives fellow golfers and fans a chance to appreciate her contributions to the game.
The championship promises to be a great occasion to honour a veteran whose career includes competitive golf, sports administration and public service.
