Gombe Fire Service Saves N20m Worth of Property from Blaze

The Federal Fire Service in Gombe State saved property worth about N20 million from a fire that broke out at the staff quarters of the Gombe Media Corporation on Saturday.

This incident happened on September 19, 2026. The fire affected a residential building within the GMC staff quarters.

ASF Muazu-Bashir Musa, the Public Relations Officer of the FFS Gombe State Command, shared details in a statement. He said they got a distress call at 4:06 PM and quickly sent out an FFS 215 Multipurpose Water Tender from the ATM Fire Operation Base.

The fire truck left the base at 4:10 PM and reached the scene by 4:25 PM. Firefighters immediately began their work to control the fire.

The statement explained, "The fire involved a residential building within the staff quarters and was suspected to have been caused by an electrical fault."

Firefighters were able to put out the fire and stop it from spreading to other areas of the compound. The command estimated that property worth N6 million was lost, but they saved about N20 million in property.

"No casualty was recorded," the statement mentioned. The operation was led by DSF Ali Kidams, with IF Adamu Babayo as the driver, along with other crew members.

Personnel from the FFS 256 Mega Park Fire Station, Gombe State Fire Service, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps also helped during the operation.

After putting out the fire, the firefighters checked the area thoroughly. They confirmed there was no more danger before heading back to the station at 5:28 PM.

The command praised the quick reporting of the incident. They said the fast distress call allowed the firefighters to respond effectively.

The FFS advised the public to stay alert and report fire emergencies right away. They also reminded residents to regularly check and maintain their electrical systems with qualified professionals.
