Hamburg waits for Moffi's decision after deal with Nice

Bundesliga club Hamburg is waiting for Terem Moffi to respond about personal terms. This follows an agreement with French club Nice for the Super Eagles striker, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Hamburg has made good progress in their efforts to sign the 27-year-old player. The two clubs have agreed on transfer terms. But the move is not complete yet, as Moffi has to decide if he will accept Hamburg’s offer.

L’Équipe reports that Hamburg and Nice have reached an agreement for Moffi’s transfer. However, the specific details of the deal have not been shared.

This agreement is a big step towards ending Moffi’s three-and-a-half-year stay at Nice. The striker is eager to leave the French club this summer.

Moffi joined Nice from Lorient in January 2023. His move started as a loan deal but became permanent after he impressed in the remaining matches of the season.

He had his best season with Nice during his first full year, scoring 11 goals in Ligue 1. This made him the top scorer for Nice. But later, his relationship with the club went downhill.

Things got worse in November 2025. Moffi and some teammates faced attacks from parts of the Nice supporters after losing to Lorient. That defeat marked the club's sixth straight loss in the league.

After that incident, Moffi went on loan to Porto in the second half of last season. He helped Porto win the Portuguese league title.

However, Porto did not trigger the €8 million option to sign him permanently. This means Moffi had to go back to Nice this summer.

The striker has made it clear he does not want to stay at Nice. The club is also looking for a way to move him on to make space for new players.

Hamburg’s agreement with Nice puts them in a good position to sign him. But Moffi still has other options. Turkish clubs Samsunspor and Besiktas are also said to be interested in him.

One challenge could be Moffi’s salary. Capology reports that he makes about €3.14 million a year at Nice, not including bonuses. He might need to accept a lower salary to join Hamburg.

With the transfer agreement already set between Hamburg and Nice, the German club is now waiting for Moffi’s response to finalize the deal.
