Hello Mr Right is Back for Season 4 with Exciting Changes

Television host Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori, also known as KieKie, and reality star Nelson Enwerem, called Prince Nelson, will return to host Hello Mr Right. This StarTimes dating reality show is back for its fourth season and has some new twists.

KieKie will be hosting the show for the third time. Prince Nelson is back as co-host for his second season.

The new season will feature AI-assisted matchmaking and a unique role-reversal format. This time, women will take the lead in choosing their potential partners.

The season kicks off with an audition episode on 26 September on ST Nollywood Plus. It will be shown again on 1 October, just before the main show starts on 3 October.

Women Take Charge

This new format, called “The Switch”, changes the usual setup. Instead of many women competing for one man, the men will be on display this time.

“Usually, we would have the girls on the stand and the man in the centre, but this year we have the men on the stand as well, with the woman deciding who she wants from among them,” KieKie explained.

Series director Jide Ali mentioned that 12 men will be competing for one woman in this new setup.

“The usual format is that 12 women are vying for one Mr Right, but we reversed it so that 12 men compete for one Miss Right,” he said.

The show will also use AI to look at contestants' profiles and suggest matches.

“We also have an AI segment that matches contestants based on their profiles. AI uses its own assessment to match the lady it considers most compatible with the profile of Mr Right,” Ali added.

He described the new season in one word: “Lambacious.”

Different Cast, New Dynamics

Prince Nelson shared that the new contestants bring a fresh vibe to the show.

“The people we have this year, I believe, are more interesting than the people I saw last season,” he said, calling them outspoken and genuine.

Series producer Rotimi Babalogbon noted that they expanded the casting process this year. They wanted contestants from various professions, ages, backgrounds, and body types.

“This season has exceeded my expectations in every aspect,” Babalogbon said.

He mentioned that some couples formed during filming look promising, with at least two pairs ready to continue their relationships after the show.

KieKie Calls for Authenticity

Even with AI and new formats, KieKie emphasized the need for honesty and authenticity among contestants.

“I just think it’s about being genuine and being real, being authentic, because relationships are one very quick way to expose your flaws,” she said.

“A long-lasting relationship has a lot to do with being honest, and of course, it starts with love,” she added.

StarTimes Marketing Director Oke Umurhohwo explained that the show aims to show dating and relationship experiences from a Nigerian point of view.

“Relationships, dating, and the search for companionship are universal experiences, but we wanted something that reflects them through a distinctly Nigerian lens,” Mr Umurhohwo said.

He added that the new season will also include social media content and audience engagement to keep the conversation going.

“The objective is to make Hello Mr Right more than something people watch. We want it to become something they talk about,” he said.
