Nigerian chef Hilda Baci is not happy about comments suggesting that her success comes from her partner, Damilola "Dapper" Akinwunmi. She believes these comments show how society views women and their achievements.
Baci shared her thoughts in an interview with Goldmyne TV on Saturday.
The chef, who has become famous for her cooking skills and Guinness World Records, said these comments sometimes bother her, but she does not find them completely annoying.
"I wouldn’t say it annoys me, but it is sometimes upsetting. But I think that it just goes to show where we are as people and what the mindset is, and that also tells how much work and further we need to go," she said.
Baci, who is dating music executive Akinwunmi, said these remarks make her want to be more intentional about representing herself and other women.
"That’s why I’m so intentional about putting in so much effort in representing myself, representing women and just giving more women an opportunity to do better for themselves as well," she added.
Damilola Akinwunmi, known as Dapper, is a music executive and entrepreneur. He started Dapper Music and Dapper Group.
Baci has gained fame through her cooking business and her record-breaking cooking feats, including her achievements with Guinness World Records.
