Victor Iliya Yacham, known as LogikThaPro, is a musician, producer, and content creator from Kaduna. In a chat with Temitayo Oshikoya, he talks about his early days with volleyball, his respect for Mikel Obi, and the need for better support for young athletes in Northern Nigeria.
LogikThaPro has built his brand on music, humor, and daily life. He reflects on how sports have influenced him and what games he played while growing up in Kaduna.
"I grew up playing volleyball in school. I wasn’t particularly good at it at the time, but I eventually improved as I continued playing," he says. He admires the sport but admits he did not take it as seriously as he could have. Volleyball is still linked to his school memories, even if he did not pursue it professionally.
When asked if he would still pick volleyball if he had to choose a sport, he replies, "Yes, I would still choose volleyball because that was the sport I played while growing up." He adds that basketball would be his second choice. Volleyball holds a special place in his heart from his childhood.
Football is a big deal in Nigeria. So, who does LogikThaPro admire in the football world? "Honestly, I’m not really a football fan, but I have a lot of respect for Mikel Obi and his skills," he shares. He sees Mikel as a strong player and appreciates his quality on the pitch. Even without following the game closely, he recognizes Mikel’s talent.
As a content creator, he has a clear idea of who he would want to feature in a skit. "Definitely Zlatan Ibrahimović. He is such an interesting character," he says. He believes Zlatan's personality would make for a funny and engaging skit. LogikThaPro imagines them having a playful back-and-forth, which would be fun to watch.
When it comes to memorable sports moments, he highlights the 2010 World Cup quarter-final between Uruguay and Ghana. "Luis Suárez used his hand to stop a goal-bound effort from Ghana," he recalls. He thinks this dramatic event could be turned into a funny skit. The tension of that moment could bring laughter, and he is excited about recreating it with a humorous twist.
On the Super Eagles, LogikThaPro admits he doesn’t follow them closely. But he believes a change in their strategy could help them perform better. "I think a reconstruction of the Super Eagles’ strategy would do the team a lot of good," he suggests. He emphasizes that having the right approach is key for the team to win more trophies.
He also discusses Northern Nigeria's sports talent. "I think it can be better. I would urge football executives to pay more attention to Northern Nigeria," he states. He sees a lot of potential in young players from the region and wants them to get chances in major leagues. He believes these athletes should not be overlooked due to their background.
LogikThaPro has spoken about the need for more platforms for young creatives. He sees a similar challenge in sports. "There is room for improvement. A lot more can be done to bring talented people into the limelight," he says. He believes that showcasing talent is crucial in both entertainment and sports.
If he could spend a day with any Nigerian athlete, he would choose Victor Boniface. "That guy is funny, and I think spending time with him would be entertaining," he explains. He believes Boniface's energy would make for a fun day, especially since he enjoys humor as a content creator.
On social media, he thinks it depends on the individual. "How people use social media depends on their understanding of the platform," he says. He acknowledges that different approaches work for different people, making it hard to give specific advice.
LogikThaPro sees collaboration between sports stars and entertainers growing. He reiterates that he would love to work with Victor Boniface in a skit. "Having him participate would give us the chance to explore his personality in a new way," he explains. He is eager to see how their interaction unfolds in a comedic setting.
Lastly, LogikThaPro is open to venturing into the sports industry. "There is a very good chance that I will find myself in the sports industry because my aim is to become an all-round entertainer," he shares. He is excited about future opportunities and is ready to explore different paths in his career.
