IK Ogbonna remembers Alexx Ekubo with heartfelt video two months after his passing

Nollywood actor IK Ogbonna has paid a touching tribute to his late best friend, Alexx Ekubo. He shared a video of their cherished memories more than two months after Ekubo's death.

Ogbonna posted the video on Instagram on Sunday. He reflected on their years of friendship and said the memories they shared showed love, laughter and family.

"It was all God. It was all love. It was all laughter. It was all dreams. It was all family. You will forever remain a part of us. Rest on, Ekuuuuu."

This emotional tribute struck a chord with fans and colleagues. It quickly got over 50,000 likes and more than 2,000 comments. Many people offered comforting words and recalled the strong bond between the two actors.

One user, #adanze_h, said the memories left behind were all that those who loved Ekubo had to hold on to. "Memories is all we have left. Keep resting Alexxx. Keep being strong ikay."

Another user wondered how hard it must have been for Ogbonna to put the video clips together. "I’m wondering how teary you will be putting all these short video clips together. Kia."

#miss_cassieblingz described the friendship between the actors as rare. She said Ogbonna might never fully recover from the loss but would learn to live with it. "Chaiiii a friendship with such bond. Ik will never be able to heal from such loss, he’ll just learn to live with it. May God continue to comfort and strengthen you. You’re loved."

Ekubo passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 40. He fought advanced metastatic kidney cancer privately before his death. He was buried in his hometown of Arochukwu in Abia State. His funeral was attended by family, friends and colleagues.

The late actor and Ogbonna had a close friendship that lasted over 15 years. After Ekubo’s death, Ogbonna paid a heartfelt tribute during the Service of Songs and has been supporting Ekubo’s parents since then.
