Britain's Anthony Joshua spoke at a press conference in London on June 1, 2026. He is gearing up for a boxing match against Albania's Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25. This match is part of his plan to face Tyson Fury later this year.
Joshua shared with Sky Sports that he feels mentally and physically stronger than before. He found new motivation after losing two friends in a car accident in Nigeria late last year.
“I feel solid. This is where I want to be. I’m very grateful for this opportunity. It’s nice doing what I love,” Joshua said.
He emphasized that he is not just focusing on physical strength, but also on mental toughness. “I’ve realised I’m a lot stronger than I ever thought I was,” he added.
The 35-year-old boxer has not entered the ring since December 2025. He warned fans not to get too excited about the deal signed for a fight with Fury. He believes true satisfaction comes only from winning.
“I’m not pleased because the pleasure really comes after victory. Signing a contract doesn’t mean anything. Winning is the only true success,” he said.
Joshua is focused as he prepares for what he calls a defining year. “I’ve got a clear goal, I know what this year is about, I know how tough this year is going to be. I’ve been training hard, that’s my life,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tyson Fury is looking to have a warm-up fight on August 1 in Dublin. This is before their expected fight in November.
