Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has raised concerns about Nigeria's ongoing electricity problems. She is questioning why the country still struggles with power supply in 2026.
Henshaw shared her frustration about the constant power outages. She mentioned that electricity sometimes lasts only a few minutes before going off, forcing people to rely on other power sources.
In a video posted on Instagram on Friday, she confronted the Minister of Power about the electricity situation. She wanted to know why there are still so many outages.
"Come on, Mr Minister of Power. No light. There’s no light. There’s hardly been any electricity. You people bring it for maybe five minutes, and then it’s gone," she stated.
She also challenged a comment from the minister. He reportedly said some electricity users complained in September that their freezers were too cold and asked for power to be reduced.
"You were credited with a statement that in September, some people were telling you that you should turn off the power because the things in their freezers were freezing. What’s a freezer for?" she asked.
Henshaw insisted that the minister should name the people who made this complaint. She believes many Nigerians still face poor electricity supply.
"I need the names and numbers of these people that called you and said you should turn off the lights, or you should slow down or whatever it is you imagine they told you. There’s hardly electricity in 2026," she said.
The actress went on to question why anyone would want to reduce power supply. She felt Nigerians should have reliable electricity by now.
"I’m sorry that people are telling you you should slow down. Slow down what? We are meant to have electricity this 2026. I’m just so angry," she added.
She also spoke about the emotional and financial difficulties that come with unreliable electricity. Many people are frustrated with the situation.
"God will judge all of you. God will judge you people," she said. She believes Nigerians deserve better treatment for the challenges they face.
Henshaw's comments show the ongoing dissatisfaction with electricity supply. Many households and businesses continue to depend on generators and solar systems to meet their energy needs.
