It’s hard to think of Nigerian food without Jollof Rice. This dish is one of West Africa’s favorites. Jollof has been part of many gatherings, from family meals and weddings to events in unexpected places.
On World Jollof Day 2026, Knorr brought this spirit to life by taking the celebration to the streets with its #TurnUpForJollof campaign. They created moments of joy and connection for everyday Nigerians in Lagos and Abuja. At busy spots and traffic stops, Knorr turned regular commutes into exciting experiences by giving out free Knorr Jollof Food Boxes to selected drivers, passengers, and commuters.
The lucky recipients included drivers of green cars, women drivers, parents with kids, and people wearing something green. This added a fun twist to the celebration, giving Nigerians unexpected reasons to enjoy Jollof. Moments that could have just been another boring traffic stop turned into special chances to share a meal and celebrate the dish that unites Nigerians.
The celebration took place in key areas of Lagos like Surulere, Yaba, Ikeja, and Lekki, and also reached Kubwa in Abuja. In various traffic hotspots, Glovo riders delivered Knorr Jollof Food Boxes right to the people, bringing the celebration to where they were.
To add more excitement, popular figures like Chef Dee, Diary Of A Kitchen Lover, and Simi Drey joined in. Their presence helped promote the #TurnUpForJollof campaign across the cities. They interacted with people at busy spots and traffic stops, putting smiles on faces and sparking lively celebrations of food, culture, and community.
Damilola Dania, Foods Demand Creation Lead at Unilever Nigeria Plc, spoke about the campaign. She said, “Jollof goes beyond a beloved dish for Nigerians. At Knorr, we believe it is also about the culture, joy, and connections that happen around it. This year’s World Jollof Day gave us the opportunity to take that belief to the streets and celebrate the goodness of Jollof with the people in a truly memorable way. We wanted to create unexpected moments of joy in the hustle and bustle of living, and seeing the excitement from commuters, families, drivers, and everyone who joined in reminded us of just how powerful food can be in sharing joy and bringing people together.”
This World Jollof Day, Knorr did more than just celebrate a dish. They celebrated the people, culture, and shared experiences that make Jollof special, bringing more joy to everyday moments and giving Nigerians more reasons to #TurnUpForJollof.
