Bottom team Kun Khalifat will face the Oluyole Warriors at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri on Sunday, October 11. Both teams really need points as the Nigeria Premier Football League hits Matchday 8.
Kun Khalifat, newly promoted to the league, sits at 20th place with just five points from seven games. They have won one, drawn two, and lost four matches. They have the worst defensive record, having conceded 14 goals. Their last game ended in a 1-0 loss to Niger Tornadoes.
Ahiaeke Chijioke, a forward for Kun Khalifat, says the team is ready and focused for what he calls a big game. He knows the team needs to improve their scoring, stating, “We need to try to score goals.” He expects the Oluyole Warriors to maintain their strong defensive setup.
Shooting Stars, on the other hand, are in 14th place with eight points from seven matches. They have two wins, two draws, and three losses. They started the season with a 2-1 win over Inter Lagos but have not scored in their last two home games. Both matches ended in goalless draws against Nasarawa United and Kano Pillars.
The recent results have led some fans to call for the dismissal of their technical adviser, Salisu Yusuf. Pressure on him is increasing, and he is eager for a positive result in this away game.
