Candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Kwara State, led by the party’s governorship candidate and Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Yakubu Salihu, started a thank-you tour across the state on Saturday. They visited Ekiti and Oke-Ero Local Government Areas.
The team included the Kwara APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, party leaders, and support groups. They made courtesy visits to the Olosi of Osi and Chairman of the Ekiti Council of Chiefs, Oba Saliu Adasofegbe, as well as the Alofa of Ilofa and Chairman of the Oke-Ero Council of Chiefs, Oba Samuel Dada.
Other traditional rulers from both local government areas also joined the visits.
While speaking to APC supporters at the Ekiti town hall, Danladi thanked the people for their support during the party primaries. He asked for their continued backing as they prepare for the 2027 general elections.
“We are starting this tour in Ekiti to honour our party Chairman. We are here to thank you for what you did during the party primaries and seek your continued support for our candidacies from our Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, down to the State House Assembly,” he said.
Danladi praised the large turnout despite the short notice for the visit.
“We appreciate you for coming out en masse to receive us. This visit is just on short notice, and the hall is filled to its capacity. We will not take your support for granted. We will build on your gains from the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”
The APC governorship candidate promised to continue the work of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. He mentioned the importance of infrastructure, inclusive growth, human capital development, and support for traditional institutions.
He also encouraged party members to bring in more supporters before the elections.
“Please, let’s talk to our neighbours, especially those who have missed roads, to come back to the winning team. The train has not started yet. There is still space in the train so they can be carried along. May God Almighty continue to guide us,” Danladi added.
During the tour, APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi pointed out what he called the administration’s progress in Ekiti Local Government. He mentioned the establishment of the Kwara State University campus in Osi and the reconstruction of the Osi, Obbo-Aiyegunle road.
“The only thing I want to tell our traditional rulers is that you will agree with me that Ekiti Local Government has seen great growth and development since the creation of Kwara State. We now have a functioning KWASU campus,” Fagbemi said.
“This government has fixed the bad Osi-Obbo-Aiyegunle road that used to take us more than two hours. Now it takes us just a 10-minute drive from Osi. Ekiti bloc is also being considered for the House of Representatives slot. This used to be our lost glory in Ekiti. We have to thank Governor AbdulRazaq and reciprocate by voting for the APC.”
At the palace of the Olosi of Osi, Fagbemi prayed for the party’s candidates, saying, “By the authorities of our traditional rulers, every blessing they give you today shall be permanent so that you will succeed.”
The member representing Ekiti Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Abolarin Ganiyu Gabriel, thanked his constituents for their ongoing support for the APC. He urged them to keep it up in the 2027 elections.
The Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu Adasofegbe, and the Alofa of Ilofa, Oba Samuel Dada, praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what they called the transformation of Kwara State in the past seven years.
The monarchs also urged the APC candidates to provide good governance if elected and offered prayers for their success in the polls.
The APC senatorial candidate for Kwara South, Prince Lekan Adewoye, thanked the people of Ekiti and Oke-Ero for their strong support for the APC during the party primaries. He promised to focus on the needs of the district if elected.
Also speaking, party stakeholders Elder Dele Aina and Engr. Ogunmola described Ekiti Local Government as a stronghold of the APC. They pledged to support all the party’s candidates in the upcoming elections.
Aina said the people of Ekiti are united and determined to deliver another victory for the ruling party.
