The All Progressives Grand Alliance has named lawyer Chukwudi Oli as the winner of its primary election for the House of Representatives in the Njikoka/Dunukofia and Anaocha Federal Constituency of Anambra State. This comes ahead of the general elections scheduled for January 16, 2027.
Ejimofor Opara, the party’s returning officer for the constituency primary election, announced the results at the Njikoka Local Government Area headquarters in Abagana on Tuesday night.
Opara revealed that Oli received 10,566 votes to beat other candidates in the primary election.
Other candidates included Udoji Chike with 14 votes, Tochukwu John with 2,257 votes, Oha Chisom with 3,418 votes, and Okoye Charles with 24 votes.
The total votes cast in the election were 16,742.
Opara stated that Oli met all the party and electoral guidelines. He noted that Oli secured the highest number of valid votes in the contest.
After the results were announced, Oli expressed gratitude to the National Working Committee of the party, the national leader of APGA, and Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, as well as the party supporters in the constituency for their backing.
“I am in the race to change the political status quo of Njikoka/Dunukofia and Anaocha Federal Constituency,” Oli said.
“I am touched by the confidence the people have reposed in me. I am touched by the love the people have shown me and I have only promised I will never disappoint them.”
The lawyer promised to provide quality representation if elected in the 2027 general elections.
“Being a grassroots politician, I will ensure that my representation brings a smile to the faces of my constituents if elected at the 2027 general elections,” he added.
Oli also thanked the media for their role during his consultations before winning the primary election.
