List of Goalkeepers Who Have Scored in EPL

Scoring a goal is every footballer's dream. But for goalkeepers, scoring is very rare.

Since the Premier League started in 1992, only six goalkeepers have scored. Each goal is special in English football history.

The first goalkeeper to score was Peter Schmeichel. He found the net for Aston Villa against Everton in October 2001. Even though his team lost 3-2, the Danish legend became the first goalkeeper to score in the league.

Brad Friedel joined this special group in February 2004. He scored for Blackburn Rovers against Charlton Athletic. But his late goal was not enough as Blackburn lost 3-2.

Three years later, Tottenham Hotspur’s Paul Robinson scored one of the most unusual goals in Premier League history. His long free-kick bounced over Watford's goalkeeper Ben Foster and went into the net. This goal secured his spot in the record books.

Everton’s Tim Howard became the fourth goalkeeper to score in January 2012. His strong clearance, helped by the wind, bounced over Bolton Wanderers' goalkeeper Ádám Bogdán. Howard did not celebrate out of respect for his opponent.

Asmir Begović added his name to this exclusive group in November 2013. He scored for Stoke City just 13 seconds into a match against Southampton. His amazing long kick travelled the length of the pitch before bouncing over the opposing goalkeeper. This made it one of the longest goals ever scored in professional football.

The most recent goalkeeper to score is Liverpool’s Alisson Becker. In May 2021, the Brazilian headed in a dramatic stoppage-time winner against West Bromwich Albion from a corner kick. He became the first goalkeeper in Premier League history to score with a header. This goal was key for Liverpool’s effort to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

On Friday, the Premier League shared a post on its official X account. It highlighted the six goalkeepers who have scored in the league’s history:
