Lynox talks about his new EP, ‘Love&Herbs’

Nigerian singer and songwriter, Adindu Nnamdi, known as Lynox, has shared details about his music journey and the inspiration for his new project, a four-track Extended Play called ‘Love&Herbs’.

Lynox started his creative journey with poetry and rap in Ajegunle. He said his latest work shows his growth over more than ten years in music, covering themes of love, healing, migration, and self-discovery.

Before going solo, Lynox was part of the Afrobeat duo, Playaz. He said his love for music began with writing and singing in church. His time with Playaz, alongside Gabana, helped him reach a larger audience. The duo became popular for their hit song, ‘Mad Oh’, featuring singer Zlatan.

The success of ‘Mad Oh’ taught Lynox about the music industry. He learned about collaboration, performing, and how to build a lasting career. After Playaz ended, Lynox decided to go solo. He released songs like ‘Big Body Benz’ featuring Xbusta and ‘Stay With Me (Lewu)’.

These songs helped him create his own identity outside the duo. His 2024 distribution deal with EMPIRE was another big step for him. Lynox said this partnership helped him understand music distribution, branding, audience development, and the business side of music.

Moving to Birmingham, United Kingdom, introduced him to new cultures and music styles. It also made him more aware of staying connected to his Nigerian roots. "I don’t want to lose where I’m from while also embracing where I am now," he said.

These experiences shaped ‘Love&Herbs’, which mixes Reggae, Afro-Reggae, Soul, Dancehall, and Afro-Fusion. The EP has four tracks: ‘Mr. Farmer’, ‘Kiss From Heaven’, ‘Control Me’, and ‘Marijuana’. The songs explore themes of romance, vulnerability, nature, freedom, and emotional release.

Lynox explained that “love” means more than just romantic relationships. It includes self-love, family, nature, and life. “Herbs” stand for nature, healing, and a natural connection.

Instead of giving a specific meaning to the songs, Lynox wants listeners to find their own interpretations. "If somebody finishes the EP feeling calmer, more connected, or simply in a better mood, then I’ve achieved something," he said.

Lynox will also take ‘Love&Herbs’ to audiences in the United Kingdom and Ireland. His tour includes stops in Leeds, London, Newcastle, Wolverhampton, Manchester, Dublin, and Galway.

“I’m more interested in creating music that feels like Lynox,” he said.
