Super Eagles goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, has shared his goals for the 2026/27 season. He said he is ready to do everything possible to help Udinese reach their aims this season.
Okoye starts the new Serie A season as Udinese’s first-choice goalkeeper. He had a good year in Italy, where he became one of the club’s key players, keeping 10 clean sheets in 30 matches.
Talking about the mood in the Udinese camp, the 26-year-old said the team is fully focused after weeks of pre-season training.
“We’re ready. We’ve worked so hard over the past few weeks, and we’re all pumped up for the start of the season,” Okoye said, quoting Tuttoudinese.
“We have our goals, and we want to try to achieve them. Personally, I want to give everything for Udinese, for the team, and for our fans.”
Udinese’s goalkeeping team has changed a bit ahead of the new season. Edoardo Piana is back at the club after Alessandro Nunziante left, while veteran Daniele Padelli is still part of the squad. Okoye expressed excitement about the competition among the goalkeepers.
“We’re in good hands. Piana is a young goalkeeper and has great talent. Then we have Padelli, who brings a lot of quality but, above all, immense experience. I’m excited to see how the boys develop,” he said.
Okoye now hopes to take his club form into the national team. He aims to beat Stanley Nwabali for the Super Eagles’ number one spot ahead of the AFCON qualifiers in September 2027.
Outside of football, Okoye has become one of Nigeria’s most popular footballers. He has attended notable events, including Formula One races and fashion shows over the summer.
The former Watford goalkeeper emphasized that his off-pitch activities do not take away from his football duties.
