The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation has started its nationwide zonal town hall meetings. They kicked off in Katsina State to connect with citizens and grassroots supporters before the 2027 general elections.
Anthony Ehilebo is the special adviser on media and digital communication to Seyi Makinde, the Oyo State Governor and presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). He shared this news during a press conference on Sunday in Abuja.
Mr Ehilebo explained that the town hall meetings would cover all six geopolitical zones in the country.
"As we continue with our consultation and mobilization, it is important to inform Nigerians that we have begun our scheduled town hall meetings for engaging citizens and stakeholders," he said.
The first meeting will take place in the North-west zone, starting with Katsina on 22 September. The next meeting will happen in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, in the South-south zone on 25 September.
Following that, the North-central zone will hold its meeting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on 28 September. The South-east zone will have its session in Enugu on 30 September.
Mr Ehilebo mentioned that these meetings would focus on key issues and be driven by the citizens. They will center on national stability and the well-being of all Nigerians.
He pointed out that the mission is to 'Reset Nigeria to a nation that truly works for all.' This includes creating a government where leaders are accessible, accountable, and transparent in managing resources.
He added that the 'Reset Nigeria' agenda is growing into a strong grassroots movement, supported by people from various backgrounds.
"Our campaign has become a grassroots movement, gaining unprecedented momentum and reputation as the fastest-growing political movement ahead of the 2027 presidential election," he said.
The organisation noted that this rising support is already leading to political successes. They highlighted recent wins in other elections, including the APM's victory in the Bauchi State House of Assembly by-election held last Saturday.
"This support from Nigerians has shown in recent off-cycle elections and by-elections, the latest being the APM's victory in the Bauchi State House of Assembly by-election at the weekend," he added.
The campaign ended by inviting citizens across the country to take part in the upcoming town hall meetings.
"Our campaign uses this opportunity to invite Nigerians to the Makinde-Daura presidential campaign town hall meetings, while also thanking all citizens for their support as we aim for the victory of APM and Engr. Makinde in the 2027 presidential election," he said.
