Manchester United have reached an agreement for a deal worth up to £50 million to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos. This information comes from several British media sources, but neither Manchester United nor Chelsea has confirmed the transfer officially.
Sky Sports reported late Wednesday that "Manchester United have agreed a £50m deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos."
They mentioned that the Brazilian player is expected to finish the remaining formalities before the transfer is completed.
The Guardian UK reports that United secured a £48 million deal after Chelsea revealed their valuation for the midfielder.
The newspaper noted that this move follows United's increased interest in the 22-year-old player.
According to The Athletic, as quoted by TNT Sports, the clubs have settled on a fee of "£48m plus £2m in add-ons." They also stated that "personal terms agreed" and Santos has "been given permission to undergo a medical."
The Times also states that United have locked down a £50 million transfer and mentioned that Chelsea negotiated a 10 percent sell-on clause as part of the deal.
Similarly, talkSPORT reported that the arrangement consists of "£48m upfront and £2m in add-ons," adding that Santos is expected to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
As of now, neither club has made an official announcement about the transfer. Chelsea has not confirmed Santos' exit, while Manchester United has not announced his arrival.
Santos joined Chelsea from Vasco da Gama in 2023. He spent time on loan at Nottingham Forest and Strasbourg before coming back to Stamford Bridge.
If this deal goes through, it would strengthen United’s midfield ahead of the new season, pending a medical and the completion of other transfer procedures.
Although he was not a regular starter behind Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez, Santos made 43 appearances for Chelsea last season and scored three goals.
