Marmoush Joins Tottenham on Loan from Man City

Tottenham Hotspur have struck a loan deal to bring Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush to their squad. The deal comes with a promise to make the move permanent for £60 million next summer.

BBC Sport reported on Wednesday that the 27-year-old Egyptian international will join Spurs after finding it hard to get enough playing time at Manchester City. He joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt for £59 million in January 2025 after a great run in the Bundesliga.

At City, Marmoush often played second fiddle to Erling Haaland. This made it tough for him to secure a spot as a regular starter at the Etihad Stadium. He came on as a second-half substitute in City’s 3-0 Community Shield loss to Arsenal and did not play at all in their Premier League opener, which ended 2-1 in favor of City against Bournemouth.

Marmoush scored 16 goals in 62 games in all competitions for City. Out of those, eight goals came during the 2025-26 season, but his involvement in the Premier League dropped a lot. He started only eight league matches and played around 700 minutes, finishing the season with three goals and three assists.

Moving to Tottenham gives Marmoush a chance to get more regular playing time on the first team. His ability to play in different positions could be a big plus for Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Though he mainly plays as a centre-forward, the Egyptian also has experience playing in various attacking roles. At Eintracht Frankfurt, he often played through the middle, but also as a second striker and on the left wing. City used him mainly as a central attacker but sometimes placed him on the wing or behind another striker.

This flexibility might be useful for Spurs, especially since Dominic Solanke has had injury issues for the past 18 months and Richarlison is in the last year of his contract. Marmoush is good at dropping back to receive the ball, changing positions, and attacking spaces left open by defenders.

Tottenham have already spent a lot this summer, with reports saying their spending has gone over £312 million. The club has brought in Savio from Manchester City, along with several other players, as Spurs work to reshape their squad.

If Marmoush’s £60 million permanent transfer goes through, he will be another important addition as Tottenham looks to boost their attacking strength. For the Egyptian, this move is a chance to regain his form after a mixed time at Manchester City and become a key player in north London.
