Olympique Marseille might sell or loan Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi in the January transfer window. The French club is trying to fix its financial issues.
Get French Football News reported this, citing Afrik-Foot. Marseille is willing to let go of Nnadi, who the club’s coaching staff does not see as essential.
Nnadi, 23, joined Marseille from Belgian club Zulte Waregem for €6 million during the winter transfer window. He played eight times in his first half-season in France.
His lack of playing time has raised questions about what will happen next. Reports say that a permanent transfer or a loan deal is being considered.
Afrik-Foot added that Marseille is under watch from France's financial watchdog, DNCG. The club failed to meet its financial rules in June.
Marseille must balance its finances before June 2027. If not, it could face penalties like point deductions.
Selling Nnadi could help Marseille raise money. But other clubs may not want to pay what Marseille thinks he is worth. A loan deal might be more likely if they cannot agree on a transfer fee.
Nnadi’s chances to play have been few. His start in Marseille’s 5-2 win over Angers came due to injuries to other players. In that match, he had two key passes, 58 touches, and won five duels, according to Afrik-Foot.
A move in January could give Nnadi more playing time. This is important for him as he wants to strengthen his spot in the Super Eagles.
For Nigeria, playing regularly at club level would be helpful as the national team prepares for upcoming international matches.
But where Nnadi will go next is still unclear. Marseille has not made any official announcement about his future.
