Martins and Mercedes Leave BBNaija ‘Show Ya Sef’

Martins Iyeh and Ijeoma “Mercedes” Emi are the first housemates to leave the Big Brother Naija Season 11 house. They were evicted during the live show on Sunday night.

The pair was shown the door after viewers’ votes decided the result of the season’s first eviction. Martins, 30, was the first to go, followed by Mercedes, 26. This marks the season's first double eviction in “Show Ya Sef.”

The vote percentages were revealed during the live eviction. Martins got 1.63% of the votes, while Mercedes had 2.29%. This left Keivo safe with 2.92%. These three were at the bottom this week.

The eviction followed a week filled with twists and strategic moves, which put many housemates up for public voting. The season kicked off on 26 July with 24 housemates competing for a massive ₦160 million prize, including ₦100 million cash and a brand new SUV.

Hosted by Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, this season’s theme is “Show Ya Sef,” with the tagline “Everything Is For The Taking.”

Twist

Unlike other seasons, no housemate was sent home in Week 1. Biggie introduced a twist called “The Gambit.” Under this twist, housemates voted for one male and one female to be safe until the finale, but they wouldn’t be able to compete for the grand prize.

Flora and Aikou were chosen as the two Gambits. They secured their spots but lost the chance to win the season's main prize. Chimsom Chuka was named the first Head of House (HOH), though another twist meant the HOH lounge went to Tram, who picked Sheba as her companion.

Martin’s Journey

Martins Iyeh, from Kogi State, is 30 years old. He came into the house as a visual storyteller, creative director, and model. He loves basketball and even claimed to have mind-reading skills.

At the launch, he said he joined the house “to have fun” and dared viewers to vote him out if he didn’t entertain. During his brief time, Martins made friends with other housemates and joined in social activities.

His birthday was a highlight, with other housemates throwing him a party. Mercedes even performed a lap dance for him during the celebration, which got a lot of buzz on social media.

Despite being popular in the beginning, Martins was the first to get evicted from the competition.

Mercedes’ time in the House

Mercedes, whose full name is Ijeoma Emi, is 26 years old and hails from Delta State. She works as a massage therapist, performance artist, concierge business owner, and entrepreneur.

She entered the house with what she called “boss energy,” promising viewers entertainment and confidence. Mercedes quickly became one of the standout personalities in the house.

Her performance during Martins’ birthday party grabbed attention, and her lively dancing made her a noticeable figure early in the season. She also had a heated argument with Oyin about the pronunciation of her name and other issues.

Her confidence and outspoken nature made her a key player in the early house dynamics. But after being up for public vote, Mercedes did not get enough support to stay in the game.

Week two twists

Things heated up in the second week. Sheba (Faith Gamde) won the HOH challenge, becoming the first female Head of House this season. Her win gave her immunity and special powers that affected the week’s eviction.

Biggie also introduced “Conspiracy Hour.” During this time, housemates could enter a special zone with chosen allies to talk strategy. They were not allowed to share what happened inside the zone with others.

The nomination process changed too. Instead of naming housemates to evict, Biggie asked them to name three they wanted to save. Tram, Barry, Cassi, Goddessa, and Bells were among those getting protection.

Sheba then used her HOH power to take Cassi’s safety away and gave it to Chimsom Chuka. With the Gambits protected, many housemates, including Martins and Mercedes, were left vulnerable.

The week also saw a Most Influential Player ranking, where housemates rated each other from one to five. The prize structure was also questioned, as the ₦100 million cash could be reduced based on performance in tasks.

The week was filled with arguments, social events, romantic chats, and alliances as housemates tried to strengthen their positions.

Season 11

The exit of Martins and Mercedes is the first eviction from the “Show Ya Sef” house this season. This situation shows how important the save-based nomination system, HOH powers, and alliances are in the game.

Now that these two are out, the remaining housemates will keep chasing the ₦160 million prize as the season goes on.
