A meat seller, Sodiq Ibrahim, has been accused of macheting his 25-year-old wife, Kehinde Onizeokaraga, to death during a fight in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.

Sources say the incident took place on Wednesday. The couple, originally from Kogi State, had been facing marital problems that led to this tragic event.

A source in Ado Ekiti shared on Thursday, "I know they had issues in the marriage. The lady even left the man's house because they could not settle their differences.

"But recently, the suspect tried to patch things up with her, and she was not comfortable with it," the source explained.

The disagreement reportedly became physical, and during the fight, Sodiq allegedly attacked Kehinde multiple times with a machete. This left her with serious injuries that eventually caused her death.

After the incident, the husband fled the scene, and his current location is unknown. Sources confirmed that Kehinde's body has been moved to the mortuary.

A family member, Yussuf Lawrence, who is also Kehinde's cousin, said the family is heartbroken over her death. He called on the police and other authorities to work hard to catch the suspect.

Lawrence mentioned that the attack happened while some people were trying to mediate the couple's issues.

He said, "While Kehinde was getting ready to leave Ado Ekiti, someone invited her to her father's friend's house to see her. Kehinde went there on Wednesday morning, not knowing her husband would also be there.

"An attempt to resolve their marital problems turned into this tragic attack."

Lawrence added that Ibrahim is still on the run. He also claimed that some people have been detained by the police regarding the case.

He alleged that Ibrahim took Kehinde's mobile phone with him. The family believes it has important information that could help the police investigation.

He stated, "We want Sodiq Ibrahim to be found and arrested. We want justice for Kehinde. Her parents are hurting, and my family is in deep pain. She didn’t deserve this."

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ekiti State Command, Sunday Abutu, confirmed the incident. He stated, "The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, has ordered a thorough investigation to ensure that the person responsible is caught and brought to justice."
