The Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) has told all its branches in Nigeria to finish church activities by 8:00 p.m. They have also stopped vigils and overnight meetings until further notice because of rising security issues in the country.
According to PUNCH, this order was in an internal memo dated 5 June 2026. The memo was signed by Temitope A. Olawale, the church’s Director of Administration at the international headquarters in Lagos.
The church explained that the decision was made for the safety and well-being of its members due to the current security challenges in Nigeria.
Under the new rules, all services, meetings, and other church activities must end by 8:00 p.m. across the country. Vigils and overnight prayer sessions are also on hold until further notice.
The memo stated that if needed, vigils can be changed to evening prayer sessions, but they must still finish by 8:00 p.m.
This directive was sent to Principal Regional Overseers, Senior Regional Overseers, Mega Regional Overseers, zonal pastors, and branch pastors for immediate action.
The church emphasized that these measures are precautionary and mandatory. They are meant to protect the lives and well-being of members during these security challenges in the country.
“All MFM ministers, groups and departments are to comply with this directive strictly,” the memo stated.
MFM added that this directive will stay in effect until the leadership reviews it again.
Premium Times has reported that terrorists and criminal groups have been attacking religious gatherings and places of worship in various parts of Nigeria. This has raised serious concerns about the safety of worshippers.
Religious groups, schools, and businesses are also taking extra safety steps due to these security fears, especially in areas seen as prone to attacks.
MFM is one of the largest Pentecostal churches in Nigeria, with branches all over the country and in other nations.
