Nigerian champions, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Women Basketball Club, are now closer to securing a spot in the FIBA Africa Women’s Basketball League final tournament in Cairo. They achieved this with a convincing 77-46 win over the Flames Female Basketball Club in Monrovia, Liberia.

The match took place on Thursday night at the Samuel Doe Stadium. This was MFM's second win in the ongoing 2026 Zone 3 qualifiers.

MFM, known as the Folashade Olukoya Queens, dominated the game, winning all four quarters by a total of 31 points. They started strong, gaining a 20-11 lead in the first quarter using a well-planned half-court strategy.

In the second quarter, MFM tightened their defense, limiting Flames to just eight points. They allowed only seven points in the third quarter. Although the Liberians scored 20 points in the fourth quarter, MFM responded with 25 points to secure a solid win.

Captain Ukamaka Okoh led the team with 13 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Veteran forward Regina Iornumbe added 10 points and a team-high six steals. Marvis Hembam contributed nine points and nine assists, while Dalphne Olugbagho and Yakhira Buzugbe scored seven points each.

MFM, the three-time league champions, had previously won the Nigerian league without losing any matches. They kicked off the qualifiers with a 59-36 victory over another Nigerian team, First Bank.

The final tournament in Cairo is scheduled to take place from December 11 to 20, 2026.
