MFM Basketball Club wants to finish the season unbeaten. They showed their strength in the Zenith Bank Women’s Premier League with a 77-21 win against Bayelsa Blue Whales in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
This 56-point victory was another strong performance from the Lagos team. They are focused on winning every major trophy this season.
MFM head coach Akinwonjowo Oladele said hard work and discipline keep the team consistent. He believes their goals go beyond just winning individual matches.
“The secret to our outstanding performances, day in, day out, is putting in hard work and remaining consistent,” Oladele said through First Zeal Media Port Harcourt.
“Our mission is to go unbeaten and win all the trophies this season. We are on course for the Louis Edem Trophy, MFM Championship and the Zenith League, where we are about 70 percent through. We are sure of going unbeaten this season.”
The win over Bayelsa Blue Whales highlighted MFM’s strength. But Oladele knows they must keep up their high standards as the season moves into its final stretch.
The coach also mentioned he is not happy with how the domestic league is organized. He pointed out that the league structure has not changed much in the last three seasons.
Oladele hopes that the upcoming leadership changes in Nigerian basketball will bring new ideas to improve the local game.
“This is how we have been going for the past three seasons. I am hoping that when the election is done, and we have a new president, he can initiate new ideas for the local league,” he said.
MFM is eager to win back the women’s national title this season after losing it to Dolphins last year.
