Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi is dealing with a knee issue at Hamburger SV. This injury has affected his training as he prepares for the Bundesliga match against TSG Hoffenheim, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Moffi cannot train normally because of the injury. This puts his chances of playing in the match on October 10 against Hoffenheim in doubt.
The 27-year-old planned to use the international break to improve his fitness. He missed some of Hamburg's pre-season training, but now his recovery is delayed because of this knee problem.
Moffi returned to training on Tuesday but only did light running. He is not yet ready to join his teammates for full training.
Hamburg coach Merlin Polzin is being careful as the club watches the striker’s recovery. "We need to get to know his knee a little better through our work together. The knee reacted a bit more than I initially thought. Now we have to wait and see what happens this week," Polzin said to Kicker.
A final decision on whether Moffi will play against Hoffenheim has not been made yet. If he does not recover as expected, the match might be too soon for him.
Moffi moved to Hamburg permanently from French club Nice earlier this year. He wears the No.9 shirt for his new team. Last season, he was on loan at Portuguese club Porto, where he made 15 appearances in all competitions.
The Nigerian forward has played 23 times for the Super Eagles, scoring six goals. He left Nice after scoring 24 goals in 72 matches for the club.
