Victor Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, might be heading to Real Madrid this summer. Football commentator Ertem Şener said that the new Madrid manager, José Mourinho, has picked Osimhen as a top transfer target, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
Şener shared this news on the Turkish site habersarikirmizi.com. He mentioned that Mourinho has made a specific request for Osimhen as he gets ready to start his second time at the Santiago Bernabéu. The financial talks between the clubs seem to be in agreement.
"I think there’s a possibility Osimhen might leave Galatasaray. I heard Mourinho wants Osimhen at Real Madrid. Florentino Perez said during the election, ‘I’ve agreed a deal with a player for 150 million Euros.’ Galatasaray is also asking for that amount for Osimhen," Şener stated.
He added, "I’m asking the Galatasaray fans here. Florentino Perez sent 150 million euros and said, ‘I’m buying Victor Osimhen,’ what do you say?"
If the transfer goes through at that price, around €150m, it would be one of the highest transfers ever in football. It would also make Osimhen the first Super Eagles player to play for Real Madrid.
Mourinho returned to Madrid this summer with a three-year contract that lasts until June 2029. He previously managed the club from 2010 to 2013, leading them to the 2011/12 La Liga title with a record of 100 points, along with the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.
He comes back to a team that hasn’t won a major trophy in two seasons and finished behind Barcelona in La Liga last season.
Osimhen spent last season on loan at Galatasaray and helped them win the Super Lig title, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 22 league matches. He also made his mark in the UEFA Champions League with seven goals and three assists.
Osimhen has caught the eye of several top clubs, including Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Osimhen fits perfectly into Mourinho's style. The Portuguese manager has always built his most successful teams around strong, fast centre-forwards. Didier Drogba and Diego Costa at Chelsea are great examples of this.
Osimhen's speed, strength, heading ability, and constant pressing are what Mourinho usually wants in his strikers.
