Nicki Minaj speaks out on killings in Plateau

American rapper Nicki Minaj has highlighted the killings in Plateau State. She shared a report about the violence and posted a short prayer.

"Lord, if we hear from you, then we will know what to do," Minaj wrote in her post. This came after she shared a story about Ezekiel Dachomo, a cleric in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

The post appeared during reported attacks in places around Barkin Ladi and other parts of Plateau. This includes the killing of three members of a community watch group in Gassa on 24 September.

The three victims were Ishaya Dung, Barnabas Jack, and Manasseh Mushwer. Channels Television reported the deaths, citing the Berom Youth Moulders Association. Wider casualty figures from attacks in nearby communities still need independent verification.

Dachomo was later seen at the burial for the Gassa victims. At the burial, he thanked former United States President Donald Trump for mentioning the attacks against Christians in his speech at the United Nations General Assembly.

"Thank you for advocating for us at the United Nations Assembly. I watched your address to the end," Dachomo said, as reported by TruthNigeria.

The latest violence happened despite a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by the Plateau State Government on Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, and Mangu on 21 September. The government limited movement in these areas from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. daily. They said this measure was to help security agencies stabilize the affected areas and prevent more attacks.

Another attack was reported on 26 September at a mining site in Marit, Barkin Ladi. PREMIUM TIMES stated that five miners were killed and two others injured, based on information from community sources. However, a different report from security sources claimed six people died, with two others hurt.

This difference means the casualty figure has not been confirmed. The recent violence has led to more security operations around Dorowa, Babuje, Marit, and Lajam communities.

Minaj’s latest comments come months after she spoke about violence against Christians in Nigeria. In November 2025, she addressed a United Nations event organized by the United States Mission to the UN. There, she said Christians in Nigeria were being targeted and displaced and called for action against religious violence.

At that event, Minaj also said protecting Christians should not mean dividing people. She talked about the need to protect everyone, regardless of their faith.

Her latest post, though, was just a prayer with the report on the killings. It did not name any suspects or suggest a specific government or security response.

The ongoing violence in Plateau has led to mixed reports about its causes and religious aspects. Christian communities report repeated attacks, while Muslim residents and other groups in the state have also faced violence.

For now, security agencies are under pressure to protect communities affected by the attacks and find out the circumstances and those responsible for the latest killings.
