Nigeria's hope for a win slipped away on Wednesday as Poland scored late to make it 2-2 in an international friendly at Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw.

The Super Eagles seemed on their way to a good win after substitute Paul Onuachu scored a penalty in the second half. But Przemysław Wiśniewski struck just before the final whistle to equalize for Poland.

Both teams were looking to bounce back after missing out on the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Nigeria started strong and took control of the game after the first few minutes. Their efforts paid off in the 23rd minute when Terem Moffi scored, giving them a deserved lead.

Poland struggled to create clear chances for most of the first half. But in stoppage time, Kacper Potulski found the net from close range, leveling the score at 1-1 before halftime.

At halftime, Nigeria made several changes. Coach Eric Chelle rotated his players, testing different options for future matches.

The new players brought fresh energy, and Nigeria controlled most of the second half. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Raphael Onyedika, Calvin Bassey, and Semi Ajayi were among those who came on as Nigeria looked for a winning goal.

Their efforts paid off in the 76th minute when VAR confirmed a handball in the Polish penalty area. Onuachu took the penalty and scored a minute later, putting Nigeria ahead again.

The Super Eagles aimed for their second win over Poland. They had won their last meeting 1-0 in Wroclaw in March 2018, thanks to a penalty from Victor Moses.

But Poland pushed hard late in the game and found success in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Defender Wiśniewski scored with a brilliant finish, denying Nigeria the win.

Even though Nigeria felt let down by conceding so late, the draw showed promise. The team displayed attacking flair and depth in a tough match against a well-known football nation.
