Nigeria will take Egypt seriously, Ohale

Super Falcons defender Osinachi Ohale has promised that Nigeria will not take Egypt lightly in their final Group C match of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations today. This is according to PUNCH Sports Extra.

Ohale is one of the most experienced players in the team. She has played in the Nigerian defense since 2010 and has won five WAFCON titles.

The Falcons need a win to boost their chances of reaching the quarter-finals. Ohale says the team knows what is at stake and will treat the game with the seriousness it needs.

“We already know what is at stake and we are taking it with all seriousness. It will be much better than the previous matches,” Ohale said.

Nigeria started their title defense with a surprise 3-2 loss to debutants Malawi. They bounced back with a tough 1-0 win over Zambia, even though they played with 10 players after Tosin Demehin was sent off in the first half.

This left the Falcons with three points, three behind leaders Malawi, as they head into the last round of group matches.

Egypt have had a tough time in the tournament. They lost 6-0 to Zambia in their first match and then fell 3-1 to Malawi. This puts them close to elimination.

Despite Egypt's struggles, Ohale and her teammates know they must stay focused. They want to keep their title defense alive.

Nigeria needs to win against Egypt, but they also hope for a good result in the other Group C match between Zambia and Malawi to secure their spot in the quarter-finals.

The Falcons are aiming to defend their title and win their 11th continental trophy. This tournament is also a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
