Arsenal suffers first loss of the season as Brighton wins 3-0

Arsenal's perfect run in the Premier League ended on Saturday. Brighton & Hove Albion shocked the champions with a 3-0 win at the Amex Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's team came to the south coast after winning their first four league matches and all seven competitive games this season. But Brighton played strongly to hand Arsenal their first defeat.

Pascal Gross scored the first goal in the 31st minute. He shot from the edge of the box to put Brighton in front.

Brighton doubled their lead just before half-time. Charalampos Kostoulas scored another long-range shot, giving Arsenal a two-goal deficit at the break.

The Seagulls kept troubling Arsenal after the break. In the 57th minute, Chema Andrés headed in to make it 3-0.

Arsenal struggled to respond as Brighton controlled the game and had better chances.

This loss is a big blow for the defending champions after a strong start to the season. Arsenal had already beaten Manchester United, Leeds United, Chelsea, and Sunderland in their first four league games. They also won against Napoli in the Champions League and Ipswich Town in the League Cup.

For Brighton, this victory adds to their good form under coach Fabian Hürzeler. The Seagulls had previously beaten Coventry City 5-0 in their last Premier League match. They also won 3-2 against Manchester United in the League Cup.

The defeat ends Arsenal's winning streak against Brighton at the Amex Stadium. They had won 1-0 at this ground in March.

Arsenal will need to regroup after the international break. Their unbeaten league record is now gone after five matches.
