Troops of the Nigerian Army have taken out 16 terrorists and seized weapons after fighting back against attacks in Adamawa.

The terrorists hit troops of 226 Battalion (Motorised) at Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area, and 232 Battalion at Garaha, Hong Local Government Area.

An operational report shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) said the attacks happened around 1 a.m. on Thursday.

The report stated that the troops fought off the attacks, pushing the terrorists to escape towards Garkida on motorcycles.

According to the report, the Nigerian Army’s Spartan element followed and struck at the fleeing terrorists, taking down 16 of them.

“Troops recovered three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, one Dane gun and six AK-47 magazines, along with some cartridges.

“Troops are currently carrying out follow-up operations and reorganising their defensive positions,” the report said.

Rescue of NYSC Members

The report also stated that troops of Operation UDO KA rescued 10 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members who were kidnapped by terrorists in Imo.

It noted that troops of 34 Artillery Brigade acted quickly to a kidnap report at Umonuwa village along the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Mbaise Local Government Area at about 6:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The report mentioned that the victims were taken from two commercial buses by suspected kidnappers.

It said troops, along with men from the Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police Force, and State Security Service, were chasing the criminals to save the other victims.
