A Nigerian named Rapheal Oludemilade Adebowale has been arrested by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement. This happened during an operation aimed at undocumented migrants, according to the US Department of Homeland Security.
The department shared this news on its official X account on Tuesday. They said Adebowale was one of three foreign nationals arrested during the operation.
They arrested Adebowale in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He had already been found guilty of theft and money laundering.
The department labeled him as a “criminal illegal alien from Nigeria.” They did not give more details about his immigration status or how he was arrested. They also did not mention specifics about his past convictions.
Alongside Adebowale, two other men were arrested. One is a Pakistani man named Jawwad Ali Ahmed. The other is a Brazilian man named Alexandre Esdras Pandolfi-Soares.
The department reported that Ahmed had been convicted of “lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years old” in Sacramento, California. They also noted that Pandolfi-Soares was convicted of “forcible sexual abuse” in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In their statement about the arrests, the department said, “Yesterday, @ICEgov arrested more pedophiles, sexual predators, drug traffickers, and other dangerous criminals.”
They added that “President Trump has made it clear: Illegal aliens are NOT welcome in our nation.”
The department did not share the sentences that Adebowale received for his theft and money laundering crimes. They also did not provide updates on any ongoing court cases.
