Nigerian players showed their skills across Europe's top club competitions. Victor Osimhen, Cyriel Dessers, Wilfred Ndidi, and Tolu Arokodare all scored goals, while Ademola Lookman provided an assist.
From Osimhen's goal in Galatasaray's Champions League win over Lille to Dessers' two goals for Panathinaikos and Arokodare's important late goal for Ajax, it was an exciting night for Nigerian football.
Osimhen Scores as Lookman Assists
Osimhen scored his first UEFA Champions League goal this season. Galatasaray won 4-2 against Lille, marking their first victory in the campaign.
The Super Eagles striker scored in the 61st minute, shooting past Lille's goalkeeper Berke Özer to help his team come back for the win.
This goal meant a lot to Osimhen, as he played for Lille in the 2019/2020 season and won the club's Player of the Season award. He chose not to celebrate against his old team and praised Lille's fans, calling their players tough opponents. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Lookman also made an impact, providing an assist for Atlético Madrid in their 1-1 draw against Stuttgart. He came on at half-time and helped secure a point for his team, despite them finishing the match with 10 players.
Ndidi and Bamidele Score in Europa League
In the UEFA Europa League, Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi scored for Besiktas in their 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace in Istanbul.
Ndidi's goal was not enough for a win, as Palace fought back to earn a point after losing 5-0 in their last domestic match against Brighton.
Another Nigerian, Yusuf Bamidele, also scored. He netted his second Europa League goal of the season as Ferencváros won 4-1 at home against Torreense.
Dessers and Arokodare Shine in Conference League
Dessers kept up his great scoring form, netting two goals as Panathinaikos crushed Kairat Almaty 5-1 in the UEFA Conference League.
He scored a penalty in the first half and added another goal with a powerful shot into the top corner after the break. Dessers now has three goals in two appearances in the Conference League this season, bringing his total to eight goals in 13 matches across all competitions.
His scoring form might help him get called back to the Super Eagles ahead of Nigeria's games in November.
Arokodare also made a big impact after coming off the bench. He scored and assisted in Ajax's 2-0 win over Atalanta.
He was introduced in the 66th minute and played a key role in the victory. He set up Abdellah Ouazane for the second goal in the 93rd minute, sealing the match after Ajax had taken the lead earlier.
These performances gave a timely boost to Nigerian football, with players contributing significantly across all three European competitions.
