President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation, Mrs Olabisi Joseph, has been elected as the Continental President for Africa of the International School Sport Federation. This happened during the 2026 ISF General Assembly in Belgrade, Serbia, according to The PUNCH.

A total of 82 countries took part in the General Assembly, and 79 votes were cast during the election.

Joseph's election is historic. She is the first African woman and the first woman ever to be elected to this leadership position in the ISF.

Her win is seen as a big step for Nigeria's role in developing and managing school sports across Africa.

In a statement from NSSF Secretary-General Ijeoma Olopade, the federation congratulated Joseph on her achievement. They also promised to support her during her time in office.

"On behalf of the NSSF executives, state coordinators, management, staff and the entire Nigerian student community, we celebrate this milestone and pledge our full support as she takes on this continental responsibility to advance school sports for African children," the statement read.

"We congratulate her and wish her a successful and impactful tenure."

Joseph made history in 2019 when she became the first female president of the NSSF. She won this position unopposed at the federation’s elective congress held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Before this, she served as the federation's secretary. In 2024, she was re-elected for a second term during the NSSF Annual General Meeting held in Abuja.
