NYSC Praises Corps Members for Their Commitment During Osun Election

The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ekeng Kubiangha, has praised corps members who served as ad hoc staff during Saturday’s governorship election. He highlighted their discipline and dedication to duty during the election.

This information came in a statement shared with journalists by the spokesperson for the NYSC, Catherine Otemuyiwa, on Sunday in Osogbo.

The election wrapped up Sunday morning, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcing Governor Ademola Adeleke as the winner. Mr Adeleke beat 14 other candidates, including Bola Oyebamiji from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The NYSC statement revealed that Mr Kubiangha visited various polling units in Ede South, Ede North, Olorunda, Osogbo, and Egbedore local government areas. He checked on the corps members stationed there.

Other polling units he visited included Alajue 1 and Alajue 2, Akoda/Oloki, and Isibo/Buhari-Isola wards in parts of Osogbo. He evaluated the safety and well-being of the corps members on duty.

Mrs Otemuyiwa quoted Mr Kubiangha as expressing his satisfaction with how the corps members performed.

Mr Kubiangha, the Osun State Coordinator of the NYSC, noted that the corps members followed instructions, operational guidelines, and safety advisories given during the sensitization tour of the local government areas.

"I am glad that corps members also complied with directives from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters and the South-West Area Office 1.

"Corps members were safe and carried out their duties without fear, intimidation or undue interference," he stated.

Mr Kubiangha also recognized the officers in the Situation Room, Zonal Inspectors, and Local Government Inspectors for their effective coordination and monitoring of corps members.

He thanked the security agencies for their work in protecting the corps members assigned to election duties across the state.

The state coordinator also expressed gratitude to INEC officials for their quick response to issues raised from the field.

He acknowledged the cooperation among different stakeholders, especially under the Inter-Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES). He described this cooperation as important for ensuring a peaceful and orderly election.

Mr Kubiangha reaffirmed NYSC’s commitment to the safety and welfare of corps members. He encouraged them to keep up the ideals of the scheme, professionalism, and national service while carrying out their responsibilities.
