The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State has made it clear that it is neutral in the upcoming governorship election. They warned corps members not to accept any form of inducement.

In a statement on Friday in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, the NYSC Coordinator, Ekeng Kubiangha, told corps members to stay apolitical while taking part in the election. He reminded them to follow the Electoral Act and its regulations in their duties.

He said corps members must stick to the guidelines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) throughout the election process.

"The scheme’s reaffirmation comes amid online reports alleging that corps members were being offered N50,000 to influence the election outcome, a claim we categorically debunked as false, misleading, and without factual basis.

"At no time does the scheme authorize, coordinate, supervise, or have knowledge of any such payment for political or unlawful purposes," he stated.

Kubiangha described the NYSC as a non-partisan body focused on national unity, discipline, and selfless service. He emphasized the importance of integrity in their work.

He added that the NYSC is working closely with security agencies to ensure the safety and welfare of corps members during and after the election.

Mr Kubiangha urged the public to ignore the false reports. He also called on media organizations to confirm information with the right authorities before publishing.
