NYSC punishes 27 corps members in Osun State

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has added more time to the service year of 27 corps members in Osun State for different acts of misbehavior.

The NYSC Coordinator for Osun, Ekeng Kubiangha, shared this news during a simple Passing-Out Parade (POP) for the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members on Thursday in Osogbo, the capital of the state.

Mr Kubiangha also mentioned that 31 corps members ran away from their service during the year.

He stated that a total of 1,969 corps members took part in the POP from the 30 Local Government Areas and the Area Office in the state.

New Beginnings

He encouraged the outgoing corps members to use the knowledge, skills, and experiences they gained during their service year as they move on to the next stage of their lives.

Mr Kubiangha pushed them to build on the entrepreneurial skills they learned from the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to deal with the challenges of the Nigerian economy.

He also advised them to stay disciplined, responsible, and committed to making positive contributions to society.

“I want to stress that the completion of the service year should mark the beginning of greater opportunities, responsibilities, and service to humanity.

“The need for the corps members to sustain the positive values acquired during their service year and apply the experiences and skills gained to their personal and professional development cannot be overemphasised,” he said.

Monitoring Exercise

After the parade, the state coordinator went on a monitoring visit to Boripe and Ifelodun Local Government Areas to motivate serving corps members in that zone.

Mr Kubiangha urged them to stay focused and make the most of the chances offered by the scheme.

He also encouraged them to keep a strong spiritual life, reminding them about the shortness of life and the need to live purposeful and impactful lives.
