The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has urged people in Agege to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the 2027 elections approach. He made this appeal during a rally at Amoo Field, Orile Agege, to kick off the party's campaign in the area.
Obasa spoke on Wednesday, encouraging party supporters to spread the word and gather support for the APC. According to Pastor Johnson Babatunde, the campaign director for Agege and Orile-Agege, Obasa told supporters to reach out to households, markets, artisan groups, places of worship, and community associations. He wants the party's strength in Agege to translate into more votes.
“Let us join hands and make sure we deliver. It is not just about victory; we must surpass our previous votes. Sound it loud to everybody, all trade associations, artisans, tribes, religious and traditional leaders. We have the numbers, and we will pour it into the APC,” Obasa said.
He also encouraged supporters to vote for President Bola Tinubu, the APC governorship candidate Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule for Lagos West, and himself as the House of Representatives candidate for Agege Federal Constituency.
The rally saw many traditional and religious leaders, APC officials, and trade group representatives in attendance. Obasa noted that the turnout, despite the midday heat, showed the unity and strength of the APC in Agege.
“Agege is always one. And we will continue to be one. There is nothing wrong with our party in Agege,” he said.
He reminded party members to stay focused on their campaign and ignore any negative talk from opponents. “There will always be detractors, but we will not listen to the din of the marketplace because no matter what you do, you will never be loved by the enemy,” Obasa said.
The speaker also asked political supporters to keep the peace during the campaign and election period. “We must try to avoid conflict, because at the end of the day, the people will vote for their representatives, the people they truly want. Nobody can force anyone on the people,” he stated.
Obasa charged the APC campaign team in Agege to keep working hard until election day. He emphasized the need to focus on trade associations, artisans, religious groups, traditional institutions, and community organizations.
The APC chairmen for Agege and Orile-Agege, Alhaji Fatai Bisiriyu and Alaba Alashe, also called on party members to rally behind the candidates, including Tinubu, Hamzat, Adebule, Obasa, Gbenga Abiola for Agege Constituency I, and Sule Sakiru for Agege Constituency II.
AbdulGaniy Obasa, the Chairman of Agege Local Government, expressed confidence that the APC candidates will keep their campaign promises. Akinola Abiodun Idowu, his counterpart in Orile-Agege, also said the area will support the party's candidates in the 2027 elections.
