A Delta State High Court has sent content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, also known as Odogwu Asaba, to the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre. This is over the alleged rape and death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.

The court made the decision on Friday, September 4, 2026, after the police finished their investigation into the case.

Awele Ideal, the lawyer for Favour’s family, shared this news in a statement on Friday. She said that the autopsy and toxicology test results were given to the police investigation team.

“Today the 4/9/2026, The application to remand Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu Asaba) was heard and granted by the Court. He has now been Remanded at the Ogwashi Uku Maximum Correctional Center (Prison), from there he shall be brought to court until the completion of his trial which now lies with the Ministry of Justice (AG and DPP),” she said.

Ideal mentioned that the autopsy and toxicology results, along with other evidence collected during the investigation, have been included in the report prepared for the prosecution and trial.

She is helping Favour’s family without charging them and plans to provide legal and financial support to pursue the case properly. “I still hold the brief of this case for late Favour’s family on Probono basis rendering my legal services and financial support to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” she said.

Ideal also promised to keep everyone updated as the case goes on, stating, “Justice is everyone’s business.”

The Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, also confirmed the news. He posted on Facebook on Friday that Ogbonna had been taken to the correctional facility after the court's decision.

“Court Remands Ifeanyi Ogbonna, ‘Odogwu Asaba,’ Over Late Favour’s Case,” he wrote.

Ossai said the remand happened after the autopsy and toxicology results were shared with the police investigation team. He explained that these results, along with other evidence gathered, were included in the report prepared for the prosecution and trial.

He added that Ogbonna would stay in custody and be brought to court as the case moves forward.

PUNCH Online reported that the police arrested Ogbonna after allegations surfaced that he raped Favour, who later died after taking a toxic substance.

The case gained a lot of attention after Favour reportedly made a video before her death, where she talked about her alleged encounter with the content creator.

According to reports, Favour went to Asaba after Ogbonna invited her for a content creation training program advertised on social media. She was then taken to a hotel, where Ogbonna is accused of raping and assaulting her.

After returning home, Favour told her parents what happened and recorded a video about her experience. She later ingested a toxic substance and passed away.

Following a petition from Favour’s family, the Delta State Commissioner of Police ordered the Effurun Area Command to look into the matter, which led to Ogbonna’s arrest.

The police started their investigations, and the autopsy and toxicology tests were done to find out what happened to Favour.

This latest update means the case has moved from investigation to prosecution, with the Ministry of Justice set to handle it through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions.

Ogbonna is presumed innocent until found guilty by a court.
