The Ogun State Waste Management Authority worked with Environmental Health Officers from Sagamu Local Government to arrest a woman seen in a viral video dumping trash into a drainage in Sagamu.
In the video, the woman was shown carrying a yellow sack full of trash. She emptied the sack into the drainage while it was raining.
The video showed she did not seem worried when she realized someone was filming her and confronting her about what she was doing.
OGWAMA confirmed her arrest in a post on X on Tuesday. They said she was caught after the video circulated online.
"The Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA), in collaboration with the Environmental Health Officers (EHO) of Sagamu Local Government, has arrested the lady caught in a viral video dumping waste into a drainage channel in Sagamu last Friday,” the agency said.
OGWAMA called on residents to stop throwing waste anywhere and to use waste collection services that the agency has approved.
"A cleaner Ogun State is a shared responsibility," they added.
