The Wamufat Youth Community Development Foundation, a non-profit group from the US, is set to host the second Wamufat Sports Camp, Run Ogun. The camp will take place from August 3 to 8, 2026, in partnership with the Nigeria School Sport Federation.
Children aged 10 to 16 will enjoy six days of free coaching in different sports. They will also receive mentorship and learn about character development. The camp will end with a community Race Day on Saturday, August 8.
Participants will train in sports like athletics, football, chess, netball, golf, ayo, and tennis. Each day will include lessons on values such as gratitude, respect, excellence, teamwork, resilience, and integrity.
With support from a dedicated team of coaches and mentors, kids will learn about discipline and self-belief. They will show what they have learned during the public Race Day celebration.
This second edition follows the success of the first camp held in August 2025. The inaugural camp saw over 450 children gather at the Agroterra Sports Complex in Joga-Orile, Ogun State.
The first camp also featured Nigerian sports stars like Olympic medallist Mary Onyali and ex-Super Eagles player Mutiu Adepoju. They inspired and mentored the young athletes who attended.
“Last year showed us what’s possible when a community rallies around its children,” said Fatimoh Muhammed, President of WYCDF.
“This second edition is about going further, reaching more children, deepening the mentorship, and reminding every young person that they matter, on and off the field.”
This year’s camp continues to bring together both local and international partners. The NSSF will lead the technical delivery and operations.
Run Your City, a US-based group, will provide coaching and storytelling from its global Run Your City movement. This movement also includes chapters like Run Bugesera and Run Kochi. Agroterra Resort will host the camp at their venue.
